Knee Pain on no movement

Hello,

I have this severe knee pain in my right knee, when there is no movement. If I am sitting in the car/bus/flight for a long time and am unable to stretch my legs for some time, my knee starts aching severely. I have noticed this for a few years now but didn't pay it much attention but for the past few days, this pain has become unbearable. Is this a symptom of a greater problem? Or am I worrying unreasonably? There is no pain after I stretch my legs or even after exercising (I run on the threadmill for around 20 mins). Also, there is the popping sound if the knee joints when I squat/fold them often.

Any inputs would be appreciated.

Regards,
FE

There is no pain when the popping sound comes.

I don't think the pain is related to the time of the day. And as i explained earlier, there is no pain on movement, even on climbing stairs. The pain is acute only when there is no movement, which usually only happens when I am sitting in a vehicle.

Popping  within the knee is quite common, and often not a symptom of any particular problem. When the pops are painless, there is usually no problem.

So what kind of your knee pain? The location of the pain can be an important part, how about morning? go to upstair?

Anyway,if you want get right opinion, give us more detail.
Good luck!
