Knee Pain

51 yo F, diagnosed with Runners Knee, have been in pain, swollen and limping for 7 months.  Dr. says to just keep coming back for cortisone, but it really does nothing.  I can hardly walk, I am in pain, do I have to live like this?  Is my doctor on the right track?  Maybe I have meniscus tears???  It affects everything... walking, sleeping, working.  Help!!  Also, I have had xrays only.  Shows no arthritis.  In both knees, although one is worse than the other.  I don't know if I should be looking at more tests or another doctor.  I haven't straightened one leg out since Thanksgiving, I am gaining weight from inactivity, and I am starting to walk pigeon-toed from the limping.

I've only had 1 round of cortisone, don't plan on doing any more.  But my doctor told me to pretty much keep coming in for them and that is it.

Cortisone supresses the immune system, and does many other imbalances to your body, some of which being dangerous in the long run. If it's not helping you at all, you should not be taking it.
