Knee Replacement

My mom recently had knee replacement on 6/8/19. (She had both hip replacement in 2010 previously)Can she have MR and tomography? She started having severe hip(both) aches after her right knee surgery. Especially when she moves or walks, she says her both bottoms(where she sits), sometimes hips are hurting so much. Does she need to have MRI or tomography and can she use MRI or tomography with her replacements? Her knee replacement brand is Zimmer and four components:

Zimmer, NextGen Complete Knee Solution, Stemmed, Tibial Component, Precoat, Size 2,

Your mother will probably use a walker for 1 to 3 weeks and then use crutches. When your mother is ready, then she can use a cane. she will probably be able to walk on your own in 4 to 8 weeks. she will need to do months of physical rehabilitation after a knee replacement.

Thank you. My mom is walking with a crutch. She has severe hip aches especially when she sits or stands up. She said she will have a CAT scan on the 20th of August. She had physical therapists for a month at home and when she had these hip aches she stopped physical therapy and started only doing short walks once a day. How long and what kind of physical therapy activities should she be doing after the knee replacement? Thanks.

Hello! Your mom will still be able to have both MRI and CT scans. Her doctor would order her exams with what we refer to as MARS (metal artifact reduction sequence) protocol. It is software that reduces artifact from the knee or hip replacements. The MARS software is pretty standard, but be sure to ask the facility where she is having the exam done. I wish her all the best.

Thank you very much for your time! My mom told me to give special thanks to your recommendation. She will see doctor today and will ask him to order that kind of scan if possible. Thank you!!!
