Knee pain and now seems like my thigh also hurts

Approximately five weeks ago I fell off of a bar stool on to a tile floor and landed on my left knee. It didn’t really hurt at the time and I went to bed. When I woke up the following morning my left knee was black and blue all around m knee area. I thought it was nothing because it didn’t really hurt and I figured it would go away when the bruising disappeared but it didn’t. As the days go by it is starting to hurt even more than it did before. I tried to wear high heels today and had to change into some flats because my left leg was really bothering me. I am concerned because it seems that not only does my knee kind of hurt but it feels like the pain is working its way up my thigh. It feels like my thigh area kind of tingles a bit. When I straighten my leg it also pops once in a while but not every time. When I walk up and down the stairs I don't feel any pain. It seems the pain gets worse in my leg around night time. During the day my knee does not really bother me at all. Last night when I was laying in bed the pain seemed to be throbbing around my knee area. I took two advils and i was able to fall asleep. Should I really be concerned or will it go away?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

You should not wear heels and unstable footwear. Do not do weight bearing on the affected knee.

Apply ice packs and take anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen or naproxen.

You should get some scans done and get yourself examined by an orthopedician.

I suspect a ligament tear, based on your symptoms.

After a proper diagnosis start treatment accordingly.

Take care!
