In addition to just removing the disk, they can also replace it. The newer replacement disks are much better and should last permanently.
Also, there are multiple possibilities for the tear. Just as the doc stated, plus some others. The initial tear repair could have added more stress to a weakened part of your disk, which then finished tearing when addition stress was added to it.

There are two possibilities. Even after surgery, the white part of medial meniscus tear will not heal. The other possibility is that another tear appeared.
