Do you take any pain killers?. I hate taking anything, after living a clean, athletic life--but I do. I need to work and only now might try, that's how bad it's been. I've heard people work with pain. Someone just yesterday foolishly said, I didn't have to suffer with pain!!!
Obviously she doesn't know much, right? Pretty much ticked me off.
But anyway...thanks for your support. I do have calcium in the house, I should be taking as it is.

Thanks so much for taking the time and care to write. I also have ddd, plus the mri as I said, mentioned stenosis and bulging disks. I fell about 2-3 on my tail bone before this. I had been doing weights etc until then, should have let up---I know. I have often thought of writing an article about baby boomers hurting themselves and blaming partly Jane Fonda, lol--I don't know how old you are but I just turned 55 and was doing everything up until 3 years ago. Yeah, if people look at me, they think I'm fine too. I always thought the doctor should tell me more--not accept it and shrugg their shoulders and give you pain pills. I didn't take anything my adult life till now. But I will look into the vitamins--magnesium, ususally doesn't agree with me. I know and am forgetting which one is better. Thanks for the info and I hope you are well as can be. Oh yeah, arthritis is probably everywhere, hips and knees--but I had pain and worked out anyway--in hindsight, I want to smack myself.

Unfortunately,all doctors can really do is mask the pain with pills,not heal it.For my leg pain,I've found calcium,magnesium,and zinc supplement taken everyday does help quite a bit.A good multi-vitamin is good to,New chapter organics has a good one.I also tore a muscle in my lower back years ago,it took a long time to heal.I found out I had degenerative disk disease when I had an MRI.It has made my back more vulnerable to injury.As a teenager I used to rollerblade,bike ride,and was very active.Now not so much.I look like I'm in a good shape,but I'm not.I'm 5'6 and weigh 115.I have some pain in the morning.But just recently,hit my tail bone,Awful pain in both legs.I wish you some relief,people that don't have this don't seem to understand how disabling and painful this is.

So, it's in both your legs legs too? May I ask what type of doctor you went to? I can't get an answer.
It was 3 years in July. It is better than it was but still not good.
And I just met someone that had one epidural for their back and the pain left for good!
You hear different things to make it more confusing.
My doctor is the worst and am looking to change. He shruggs his shoulders and gives out pain pills. I was a workout-health nut--I want some of that back.

I have similar problems in my lower back. The pain goes down my buttocks and into my legs. The doctor did say it was spondilyosis (sp.? but it means arthritis in the back , no cushion in the disks). I also can't stand or walk too long without pain. I am going to try the physical therapy. The doctor I went to did say that those epidurals often don't work on the back.
I don't really have an answer, but wanted to let you know you're not alone. I also have problems in my cervical spine with 2 herniated disks in my neck so I'm just a mess!
One thing I would suggest is to cut back a little on your workouts. If you don't make some adjustments, it's just going to cause more pain. Be careful about lifting heavy weights, which puts strain on the back.
