Lidocaine side effects?

Why do i have to rest after a lidocaine trigger injection in my back? What are the side effects of resuming normal activity immediately?

Hi!
After a lidocaine trigger point injection you can resume the normal day to day activity and return to work on the same day. However, it is best to avoid over-activity and give the trigger site time to heal.
Also, sometimes there is return of pain due to incomplete injection or not reaching the actual site. Thus the cause of pain will be difficult to determine if you are over active. So, if the trigger point was in lower back, it is best to avoid walking 5 Km on the same day or if you want to, ask your specialist regarding this. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
