Lump on my lower neck...

I have this lump on the back of my neck, I've always had it, but not when I was a very young child. When I touch it, I can feel that it corresponds with my spine. Is there a way to get rid of it? Would it help to improve my posture or start sitting up straight?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Well, without a clinical evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the lump. Possibilities include cysts, lipomas, growths from the bone/ surrounding connective tissue etc. Most often the lump should be removable, but this may not be necessary in most cases, though it is unlikely to improve the posture. You may consider an evaluation by a primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis and possible management.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
