Lytic Lesion in Ankle

Hello,
Three years ago I had bone graft surgery to repair a lytic lesion in my right ankle.  The surgeon scraped out the cyst and used a graft from my pelvis to fill in the remaining hole.   It never filled in completely and the cyst has been growing back.  I have been experiencing an almost constant ache in the ankle and a burning pain which radiates into my foot and up my leg a bit.  It also feels as if it needs to be cracked, like a knuckle.  I have an appointment in 10 days with a new orthopedic surgeon who specializes in benign bone cysts.  I am wondering what could have caused the first bone graft to not work and what the chances are that a second operation would work?

Hi!
A benign lytic lesion could have grown in size and pressing on nerves. This can cause pain, tingling, numbness in the foot. The other possibility is a compression fracture due to a big lytic lesion. Possibility of a cancerous change cannot be ruled out completely. Take care!

Forgot to mention that I am also experiencing a numbness/pins and needles sensation in the ankle, foot and toes.  I am concerned that it may have progressed into something more than the benign lytic lesion that it was before as the pain is different and worse than before. Any thoughts?
