Unexplained ankle/foot pain

I posted this in the expert forum but maybe someone here can help me out

Friday afternoon I was laying on the couch watching tv and I got up as I normally do to go and talk to my mom.  But as I stepped down on my left foot my ankle was hurting as if I had sprained it.  But I did nothing to provoke any sort of pain.  I thought maybe it was just a cramp so I didn't think much of it.

Saturday it got worse, I was walking and the pain would shoot from my ankle to the top of my foot and underneath.  I started getting a bit worried because I had no idea what was wrong.

Sunday rolled around and it was even worse.  Not only was the pain in my foot it was now in my calf as well.  It's now Monday and it hasnt gotten any better.  Sometimes when I lift my foot up it feels like something is rubbing on the side of my foot, kind of like bones rubbing.  (Used to get that feeling in my right knee before I had surgery)

I had to do some walking today and my ankle and foot are soooo sore..walking was horrible..i wish i knew what is going on with my foot

Maybe someone here could shed me some insight.

Oh also my ankle is red and has some spots of brown like a bruise, and sometimes the top of my foot gets really swollen

Are you sure you’re not having a gout attack. Drink plenty of water and take 200 mg of Naprosyn if it goes away or gets better than you have gout. Get your blood tested for excessive uric acid. Five on the scale is average. However, High uric acid levels isn’t the only thing that causes gout. Gout can be anywhere in your body. Eat eggs for protein and cut the meat.

I am so surprise because I now have the same problem like u, except I never had a surgery, my both feet hurt around the ankle every time I walk, started when I woke up in the morning. I even have to quit my job because I can't stand up or walk long. So do your feet feel better? How do u treat them? I went to the acupuncturist and chiropractor but my feet still hurt like hell everytime I walk long

Hi Lexi
You want to get yourself to see a foot and ankle specialist, the sooner the better.
Could be stress fracture, could be loose chiped bone, they will see it on xray/mri.
Let us know how it goes, and get well soon.
