Hello!
You need to go for a complete re-evaluation of the surgery. Need to go for an X-ray and also MRI to see the bone alignment and also to check for any complications with the tendons etc and follow up with a clinical examination.
I would still suggest you to continue some form of therapy and for the pain ice the area and for severe pain wear a brace and take intermittent pain killers till you complete your Orthopedician visit.
Take care!
I had six months of physical/occupational therapy and my doctor said I didn't need anymore. Infact the last time I saw him he told me he didn't understand why my wrist was so "stiff"
Since I have seen him last I am still having alot of ulnar sided wrist pain. I can not get in to see him till end of September. I know he did the intercarpal fusion because the ligament that I had fixed the sl and the lt needed to be fixed again,( the original surgery I had was done by a different doctor including the tfcc repair) that's why the fusion. But I had also tore the tfcc and had a debridement of the tfcc. He never checked to see how that was doing. I have a screw in there can I have a MRI done? or would it have to be an arthrogram or a CT? I really don't know why I am having all these problems because he told me after the intercarpal fusion my wrist pain would be gone. I would give the pain about a 6 just sitting here. If I do something it would jump to about a 9 or 10.
Hello!
You would need therapy after the wrist fusion. The whole anatomies of carpal bones are modified and the alignment and the way of functioning change.
Consult your Orthopedician surgeon to refer a good Physiotherapist and continue therapy for gaining of functions and improving range of motion.

Hi I didn't have a wrist fusion but an intercarpal fusion and I have no range of motion at all plus I can not do alot of things like turn my key to start my car. Steer with my hand, I have trouble doing daily activities. And I have a disability from it. Ummm I thought a whole wrist fusion would be more dabilitating then an intercarpal fusion. You need both of your wrists fused? What happened?
Hello!
You would not have disability but you will have restricted movements by 25%. But again it depends from case to case and what complication you have and for this you should discuss in detail with your operating surgeon.
Take care!
