Pro bono orthopedic surgeons?

Hello,

I know this is a long shot, nut I need to start somewhere.

About a month ago, my close friend's daughter fell in a tragic climbing accident in Italy.  Her face and leg were badly crushed.  She spent several days in a coma.  Her nose is unrecognizable.  One side of her jaw is broken and doctors here say that it will never heal/fuse.  The knee in her broken leg is "collecting water" as they say, and it may heal shorter than the other.

Her insurance refuses to cover any of this, because it was what they consider an extreme sport.  She's in Hungary now, at home, because the hospitals here that she might be qualified for (under national care) are very bad.  Her family is deeply in debt now, because of the hospital bills in Italy, and doesn't have the money for good surgeons that might be able to fix her problem.

Does anyone know of surgeons in the U.S. or in the E.U. that are willing to do pro bono work for her?  All we want is for her to be able to eat and for her leg to heal well.  She always adored sports.  We want her to be able to function.

I know this is a long shot and I am one of many asking for help. My son broke his hand this past week. He went to the ER and was told he would have to have surgery and it would have to be done in Lubbock. He has no insurance and no savings. He works construction and does not have much left from his pay after bills and child support come out. He is continuing to try to work because if he does not work, he does not get paid and if he does not get paid, he will be out on the street because he can't, pay his rent. He is in so much pain. I am on social security and unable to help him. Please, can someone tell me where he can get some help. If he can't get help, his hand will be crippled!! Please.

I have been unemployed for four years due to chronic pain in my neck and knees.  The neck pain is due to a 3-car collision I was in.  I also have bipolar disorder and experience depression due to the pain.  I am not on disability and rely on financial assistance from family members.

I have limited insurance that will not cover the total bilateral knee replacement that I need. My insurance will cover a portion of the hospital bill but not the surgeon's charges.  I am bone-on-bone in both of my knees.  I currently take 150 mg of Diclofenac a day.  I've been on this anti-inflammatory for 4 years since diagnosis.  I am trying very hard to avoid pain management.  

I am in search of a surgeon that would do my knee replacement surgery pro bono in Maryland, specifically Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Howard, or Baltimore counties.  

At 53 and with a 10 year old I would really love to gain mobility.  I don't want to be in a wheelchair with such a young child.

Any assistance or information would be greatly appreciated.

hello i was wondering can i get help with my jaw. It was broken n now it has a bad infection and it hurts real bad n really can not eat. but the main thing is my constant headaches and the sharp pain that always shoot to my temple. i was jus wondering can anybody help me out please.

Hello, my name is Tony and I'm a disabled veteran who just found out March 2010 that due to the injuries I sustained in the Navy I could have been getting treatment and benefits from the VA. I have filed multiple claims for back, neck, knee, and feet; but only got a 20% rating. My advicate has informed me that I need an Independant Medical Exam to get my other claims granted. I do not have the money to pay for an exam and I'm in need of a doctor who would review my records and examine me so that I can get my benefits. Any help would be appreciated.

My friend was in a car accident 15 years ago and her knee was crushed she has NO KNEE and can't even ride a bike thanks to a drunk driver she walks with a bad limp and has to use hand crutches. I know this is a long shot but does anyone know a DR that might want to help to see if she can get some kind of a knee so at least she can bend her leg. I am 50 years old and am currently attending school to become a surgical tech. I'll graduate and start externship a year from June. My problem is that I have a bad knee and no insurance as I've been on Unemployment for some time. I am having a lot of trouble with excruciating pain in the back of my knee, which I now only have the ability to partially flex. All care has been through L.A.County. I've recently had an MRI done and apparently the report says, "meniscal problem with arthritic changes". I have had 2 previous arthroscopies on the same knee. The 1st was approximately 25 years ago to repair a meniscal tear. It worked great for about 10 years. Then the 2nd was to scrape arthritis that had built up over time. That also worked great. Then about 5 years ago I re injured the knee when I was backing down a ladder, miss the last 2 steps and ended up over flexing it into a squatting position where I ended up with my butt on the ground and the knee completely flexed. It was painful at the time of the injury, but with pain meds and anti inflammatory meds, it mostly got better. Not completely, but very manageable. However within the last 8 or 9 months it has gotten very painful. Now I have been unable to flex more than about 30% and I'm very afraid I am losing muscle length, and mass that will greatly affect my rehab. However I have been told by the County that it may take up to 2 to 3 years before they can help me with it. I don't have that long to wait. It is affecting my ability to stand for extended periods of time which is most definately something a surgical tech has to do.
Here is my proposal. If some kind orthopaedic surgeon would be willing to help me out, when I graduate I will gladly come to work for you to pay off my bill.

I got layed off in 2008. I was a steel worker. I needed back surgery so I was able to get a medicaid card because I have a 12yr.old son. I had the surgery. my unimployment kicked in and they took the medicaid card away.I got 50 to 100 to much for medicaid. Now I have been diagnosed with an arthritic hip and need a replacement. Orthopedic Surgeon wont do it unless I have 3000.00 up front. I am a single mother. My sons father died when he was 11mo. old. I am struggling on unimployment. I don't have 3000.00 dollars. I can't even begin to look for work until this gets fixed. Who would hire me? Somebody who has a hard time walkng up stairs and has to wobble in order to walk. I would love to have my life back, and I would love to give my son back the mother I use to be. Please if there is someone out here who can help me that would be so great.    Thank You.    Chrissy48

Hi, I have a dear friend who has been told his hip needs to be replaced.He is in tremendous pain and just walking is hard for him. He is out of work and has no insurance. He is unable to work. He has applied for social security and it is a long process.He broke down and went to the state for help and was told he would have to wait 8 months for a medical card since he has no dependents. Are there any doctors who would do replacement hip surgery free? He has always been active and his spirit is just about broken.

I broke my heel bone in July, at the time I was between jobs, and wasnt covered with health insurance. I started seeing an Orthopedic Surgeon as self pay, when he lied to me and told me I didnt need surgery, then dropped me as a patient, and sent me to a non-exsistent center at U of L. I have been on crutches for 4 1/2 months and cannot seem to find anyone to do surgery on my foot, as a self pay patient, if anyone has any suggestions or referrals, I would appreciate more than you can ever know.

Hello!

You can diagnose an anterior cruciate ligament tear by doing an anterior drawer test and confirm by an MRI.
Partial tears would need immobilization in a cylinder cast for 3 to 6 weeks: with rest, anti inflammatory drugs, ice packs followed by proper physiotherapy will heal them.

With grade III injuries repair of the ligament or reconstruction of the ligament is undertaken.

Consult an expert orthopedician.

Hi ,
I was wondrering if somebody coul help me. You see I tore my ACL. My inurence probally wont cover it but just in case I am posting this. I have 3 kids and we are goin though so hard times. My job reqires me to walk up and down ramps and stairs. As you my have infered, me having a torn ACL working is more then a bit hard for me. I am also a athletic person and I hope to continue to be. I would realy appreciate if anyone could help me out so I could live my life with my family happly.
