Right Shoulder

Had a MRI in October.  Doctor sent me to physical therapy due to a fall with me landing on my right shoulder.  It is still acting up.  Now he wants me to have a "arthrogram MRI."  I went to get the procedure done today.  The radiologist will not give me the arthrogram MRI.  He says that I am "severely allergic" to it.  I get severe hives, vomit, eyes swell badly.  He wants my ortho doctor to give me a prescription for two medications that may counteract it.  The radiologist says my arthrogram must be done in the hospital.  He says there are two medications during the procedure that he must give me.  He says that I may still get sick while procedure is being done and expect to get to get sick on the way home because I am so allergic to "shellfish" that when I am in the grocery store I have to walk all around the store to not come in contact with the fish in the store.  If I cannot do "arthrogram procedure" is there anything else that can be done.  My right shoulder still hurts badly.

Hi!
If you are that allergic to the arthrogram dye then your doctor can opt for CT scan (if he suspects bony pathology) or direct visualization of the joint by arthroscopy (a scope is put into the joint to look inside the joint and carry out minor procedures). Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history. Hence this reply to your post should only be considered as a guiding line and you must consult your doctor at the earliest for your medical problem.
