Right dorsal dislocation on ring finger at PIP joint

What is the proper was to give anesthesia before doing a reduction for a Right dorsal dislocation on ring finger at PIP joint?  My Doctor's PA is saying in the notes I consented to a flexor tendon sheath block .  She never gave me any other choices.  It was the most painful thing I have ever had done.  What was done was I was first frozen with some spray and then injected with something right below the finger in the middle on the palm side.  Then frozen on the PIP joint knuckle side and injected right in the knuckle. That one hurt the worse and so did the freezing there which really burned because there was a cut there.  After that doctor came in and did reduction.  Is this normal or even a standard practice?  I read on internet and can only find that anesthesia is done right below finger on both sides at palm  Anyone here know? Thanks Tom
