Rotator cuff re-tear?

Hi,

In 2009, I had a bone spur removal and capsulorrhaphy (labrum pleat) done  on my left shoulder.  I had rotator cuff repair (almost a full tear) done in October 11.  Last month, I had my right shoulder done (full tear and bone spur).   I was not finished with therapy on my left as it was not even a full 3 months post surgery when I did my right one.  I was at the point in therapy where I was beginning to lift 2 lb weights.  I of course was forced to use my left for everything since my right was just done, and it's now been 1 month and I'm afraid that I've re-torn my left.  So, here's my question. ......How would I know?  And how long does it take to heal - was I in the clear after only 3 months, and it's possibly just over-use pain and not an actual tear?  I'm freaking out a bit here.
Thanks!

Hi there!

Well, without a clinical valuation it would be difficult to re-assess a re-tear, though it would present as increased weakness or deterioration of the improvement made so far. Post surgical healing usually takes around a few weeks-months. The clicking and popping could be from other issues as well, while pain is a non-specific sign. If the pain continues or if you observe additional weakness, I would suggest an evaluation by your treating orthopedician for appropriate management.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!

Another reason I'm scared besides the pain of the left, is that it's also clicking and popping a lot, but I was told this can also be from scar tissue...?
