Thorn injury to knuckle

In good health. Pricked by thorn in knuckle.  No remnants left behind. Small hard lump formed 7 days later all swelling had subsided and otherwise all else appeared normal and functional. 16 days after ***** accidently hit the small hard lump as well as slightly overflexing joint. Now slight pain upon mornings initial flexions of the joint. As day goes on feels better as I use it. Come mornining, pain and stiffness again until its used. The area is not red, hot. Can fully flex and straighten. Would say very slightly swollen compared to other hand. I'm thinking hot/cold compresses? Is it possible for an infection to be in the joint when there is no redness or warmness visible? Now at day 27 after *****. Possible diagnosis?

I have done the same on my knuckle on my middle finger, got the thorn out but it's still red and quite painful, not sure if the thorn touched the bone, not sure how long to leave it before I seek help.
