What should I do with my knee?

Hi,

I have had this problem for a while.

I was 15 years old and I fell skying.  I cannot find the results of my MRI back then (the ski twisted my leg (rotation anti clock wise). But I remember the doctor saying:
- partial rupture of cruciate ligaments
- light damage on the meniscus

Since then, I muscled my leg back. Even thou it hurts from time to time (for stupid thing, like getting off the bus), I have done tons of sport without any problems: climbing, rugby, marathon, crossfit, weighlifting.

I am now 31. (16 years later) and in January, after a break of 4 weeks, I went to weightlifting. I went to quick, to fast in heavy weights and the knee just gave up when doing a push-jerk. Since then, it is just a nightmare. At completely random time, it is like I have no knee at all, my leg just doesn't support me anymore. I try to muscle back, being super careful (bodyweight and light bicycling, movements have been given by a physiotherapist). But a little twist in the leg can sometimes give me horrible pain. I now wear a very light splint.

here is the results of my MRI

Do you think a surgery is really needed? Is there a way to avoid it?

Can stem cells help? Can I do only stem cells?

PS: I will see an orthopedist (I have 2 appointments with 2 different ones but it is in 2 months). I am just collecting as many opinions as I can. Especially unbias opinions.
I live in Poland.
