arthoscopy knee surgery

On February 23, 2009 I had surgery on my right knee, now four months later i am experiencing swelling of my left ankle with pain and redness which is moving up my leg to the lower part of my shin. What is causing this.

The swelling is not on the right knee where the surgery was done but on my left ankle, shin, and foot.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
The most common reason would be infection. Check near your surgeon. If you have inflammation with swelling pain at the site even after 3 months it is a cause to worry. If it is just slight swelling and little redness it might be due to your ligament, tendon problem. You have to go for an examination to come to a diagnosis. Take intermittent anti inflammatory drugs till you go to your orthopaedician. Take care!
