MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there!

Osteophytic lipping is the formation of bony outgrowths, commonly indicative of a degenerative process like arthritis. Bilateral refers to it being present on either side. This could be benign and may not cause symptoms at all; or large lesions could cause symptoms due to pressure effects or damage the neighbouring structures depending on the location. Treatment in early cases would be by medications that help in controlling the inflammation; while surgery is reserved for severe cases, where the benefits of doing one would need to be evaluated against the risks. You could discuss this in detail with your orthopedician.
Hope this helps.

Take care!
