Hello!
Good to here about proper bone healing. You can start weight bearing after 5-6 weeks and do it slowly and gradually.
After 6 weeks from 17th after starting some mobility you can go for another X-ray.
If everything is fine start weight bearing in a progressive way and after 4-6 weeks you will built up the required strength.
Take care!

hello
thanks for your reply!so what u are saying is i wont be able to walk for that period of time? when will i be able to start weight bearing? 1st xray since accident is on the 17/11/09 should i expect to be told i can weight bear?and as i work in a care home looking after the elderley when can i expect to go back to work as ive now not been working for 6 weeks. thanks
Hello,
The healing of multiple comminuted fractures takes longer time than a simple fracture. The most important factors you consider here is your age, fitness level and mobility levels.
As soon as you are symptom free and proper fracture healing has taken place then the: mobility, rehab and physiotherapy becomes important.
If the healing is perfect and if you do not have any complications then you have to look for a healing period between 4-6 months for full mobility.
I would suggest you to follow up with your orthopedic surgeon and after 12 weeks you will have a clear picture.
Take care!
