foot pain after surgery

Last July I had a titanium rod put into my foot. The surgeon said that it heal my foot and take away any residual pain after a break that refused to heal. My pain has never really gone away and my surgeon of course stopped filling my scripts for pain meds, I'm pretty sure he thought I was just faking or something. All they kept saying was that I shouldn't still be in so much pain. Well, here we are seven months later and more days than not my foot is throbbing. I don't do anything besides yoga and even then I stay off of my affected foot. Could I be allergic to the implant? Should seek a different Dr.? One who doesn't just assume that I'm a suburban drug addict? I am so frustrated. It's not as if I enjoy taking pills, but I enjoy being in pain a lot less.

Thank you for your time

Thank you Dr. My concern with ibuprofen would be that it decreases blood flow which is kind of important in terms of healing at the fracture sight. I went in to have it scanned again yesterday and it looks as though at some point in the last couple of months I effectively refractured my foot. I am currently on light activity for a month wearing a straight break shoe.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

I would suggest you to go for a fresh scan and check the healing. If you have any complications then follow up with another orthopedician. As such you can always take a second opinion.

You can take intermittent pain killers; ibuprofen can also be taken for this purpose.

Also consider physiotherapy after discussing with your orthopedician.

Take care!
