how can mild diffuse increased activity hurt so much it's mild

I twisted my ankle in May of 07 at work.
My right ankle and lateral side of my right foot hurt so much when I'm on it for any length of time.

June 28 2009   The bone scan showed mild diffuse increased activity in the region of the tarsus and right lateral foot    compared with the left.  It was demonstrated in the static images in multiple projections.

August 3 2007 - MRI  There is mild grade I strain of the exterisor digitorum brevis muscle.
The is mild contusion w/o fractures of the cuboid and medial aspect of the tafar neck

June 15 2007- Probable cortical avulsion fracture involving the tarsal cuboid.
Three phase radionuclide bone scan suggested for futher eval for potential osseous contusion at this site

The bone scan that was recommended 2 years ago, I finally got.  I thought we would finally know why my foot hurts so much.....................but it says my problem is only mild.    How can that be????????????????

Resting your ankle with a cast or a crepe bandage is always good for the healing. And you can have the steriod shots if it helps in your case. Discuss with your orthopaedician. Take care!

What can I do to help the pain?   There's been talk of surgery and/or shots in my foot under an xray.  Could I just put it in a cast for awhile and let it heal?

Problem is mild, reason of the problem is not so serious. The pain is the symptom you perceive and it is due to the packing of many muscles and tendons on the foot and also the blood vessels and  nerves which supply it. You bear the weight of your whole body on the foot so pain is perceived more with ankle injuries. Take care!
