after 8 wks i have been told i have fractured my 2nd metatarsel,it is still swollen and hurts ,i would have thought it would have heeled by now even if i have been walking on it

  hello,
              it appears u r fracture has either ot united or is malunited...get a x-ray of ur foot to confirm

thank you for your reply,i saw consultant tuesday,he said the swelling was from the fracture heeling and that walking will help to heal ,he said it should have been in a cast for a month and then removed, he said the cast is for pain relief only not for heeling a stress fracture.
thankfully the swelling is going ,and just aches when i walk on it for a while.

Hello!

It is important for you to wear a cast or boot and follow complete immobilisation of your affected foot for 3-4 months for proper fracture healing.

It is important that after you get your scans done you have to follow with a foot specialist or an orthopedician.
