knee? pain

I have similar pain, not directly on my knee but but beside it.  It happens when I am changing the kitty litter and kneeling, if I go a little to the side of my knee, it's a sharp, burning? intense pain.  other than that, that knee does not bother me at all.  I have never had surgery of any kind, I am 56, female, 20 lbs overweight.

All knee pains cannot be osteoarthritis. I would suggest you to go for a knee X-ray for a proper diagnosis.

Take pain killers such as ibuprofen intermittently and use ice packs if you have pain.

You should consider regular cardio exercises after examination by an orthopedician and maintain a BMI less than 25.

You might also have ligament injuries which can only be diagnosed by an MRI.

Take care!
