knee replacement is in my future

I have had trouble with my knee for about a year now. I have had 3 injections, and the last one hardly helped at all.  I have had to quit working, and it is getting hard to walk, and I am afraid the knee will give out, and also the other knee is starting to give me problems..  I have no insurance so the replacement is not an option for probably another year.  I am looking for suggestions on losing weight, and being able to function daily without so much pain, and also to keep my other knee from deteriorating so quickly.  Any suggesitons?

Perfect advice! But before going for that, as every individual is different from other. Check your Blood Pressure, check for diabetes and then go for the Dietician to prepare a diet chart, which will cut down a bit on your calories, rest all is clear in the above post as the solution for your weight loss. Take care!

jeanpeewee,
you do not have to exersice to loose weight, also there are many exersizes that you can do that involve upper body that will help to burn calories.
There is a golden rule concerning weight...If you dont put it in your mouth it wont stay as fat on your body.Because you do not exersice your body does not need as many calories so you must eat far less than you do now. Cut out 90% of your Carborhydrate intake and concentrate on Protien and veg that grows above ground. Joints do not wear out under normal use, get rid of the fat and see the difference. It worked in my case.

thank you for your comment.. I have been to the surgeon, and because of lack of insurance, he was a little reluctant to go further than the cortisone shots... he told me that the knee is shot, and not much can be done, of course except lose weight.. easy to say, hard to do when u can't exercise...

The best thing is have your knee assesed by a knee replacement orthopaedic surgeon and get clear about the amount of damage, bending of legs  which has taken place and then what is the best time to get operated?
Then you will have full advantage of a knee replacement.

Now you can only do:
Weight reduction and decreasing the pressure to your knees
Taking pain killers
