miniscus repair, how do i get back to competing

I tore my miniscus in both knees foolishly on a leg press machine with two much wieght below 90 degrees in the spring of 2009. I trained in the sport of olympic wrestling while injured for a full year, while being told it wasnt a miniscus tear. finally the pain was enough, i got an mri and on september 20 2010 i got a repair on my right knee. it is on the inside of the knee, and basically what i was told is they pinned the miniscus together. its been almost 3 months, and i am still have troubles walking, and was supposed to be back to work 3 weeks ago. i do physio every second day, and am a usually very healthy person. any advice???

The doctors performed a medial meniscal repair...as opposed to a menisectomy...

With a repair you should have been non-weight bearing, or partial weight-bearing for at least 4 weeks... (so on crutches)

Now that you are still having problems I wonder if you might have not waited long enough for the meniscus to repair...also, you need to be sure to have full range of motion at the knee...also, be using ice to reduce any swelling, and you should also be getting the fluid massaged out of your knee so that new, healthy fluid can come in to repair the meniscus...
The most important thing if to have full range of motion at the knee, and also, work on getting back to the strength that you had before...

Usually it will take about 6-8 months to get fully back to normal...

You should also get the other knee fixed, once the current knee is better.
