side knee pain

Been having a problem with my outside knee when i play basketball. i play about 2 or more hours at a time, everything is fine the first hr or hour and a half. After that the side of my knee begins to hurt and after a while i cant put any weight on it. My lateral movement is almost completely gone and then i can barely walk. Afterwards that whole night im in severe pain, worse after sitting for a bit and trying to stand up. Up until today everytime that would happen the next day my knee would be perfectly fine, this time it stayed sore for longer than ususal. But normal it clears in a day and im good to go the next week with the same thing happening, being everything is fine the first hour or so. Anyone have any ideas as to why it just flairs up like that? id go to the doc but a day or so later i have zero pain. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Im actually gonna be in a basketball league for the next month or so before i go get it checked out. If its what you say it might be is there something i can do before each game that might help, will stretching out the knee alot beforehand be ok? or will that hurt it more, i have a knee brace im gonna wear to try and help.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello!

I would suggest you to get your lateral collateral ligament checked as you might have sprained or injured it while playing sports or you might have twisted it or had some fall recently.

You should also check your quadriceps and hamstrings for any sprain.

You can use some ice packs on the affected area, rest and also can take some pain killers.

I would also suggest to you to go for a proper examination near an orthopedician for diagnosis and treatment.

Take care!
