Teh L5 /S1 disc has a focal left posterolateral significant  herniation which is markedly compromising  the existing left S1 nerve root and theca. Hello!

Explore all conservative therapy options before exploring surgical options.

It is important to lose excess weight and achieve a BMI less than 25 and it is also important to strengthen your back muscles. As you are not overweight so it will be easier for you.

You should continue pain killers as advised and also take steroid shots to delay surgery and to control pain. I would suggest you to follow up with an orthopedician.

Take care!

Have you thought about going to a chiropractor? My LL5 is fused to my S1 and even tho they can't separate the vertebrae they can give you relief from the pain. A chiropractor really helped me a lot with my pain and even discovered that the bones were fused together when my ortho surgeon didn't.
