swelling of the calf, ankle and foot after surgery

My husband had knee replacement surgery 7 weeks ago. Now he is suffering with swelling of the calf, ankle and foot on the same leg as the replacement. He is exercising, walking, biking on stationery bike and doing the exercises that PT told him to do. He is able to bend 126 degrees and walks very well without any aid. He is doing stairs as well. He ices it and elevates the leg periodically throughout the day. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? It is extremely frustrating. The surgeon tells us "he doesn't know why it is doing this" and suggested we go to see our family physician.

Dr,

He had Lovenox injections following surgery. There is no redness, fever, chills or drainage. Also no tenderness or redness at the site. We did consult the surgeon that performed the knee replacement. We have had regular follow-up appointments and he keeps telling us he doesn't know why it's swelling. He sent him for an Ultra-sound on the leg to check for blood clots and nothing showed up. Very frustrating. I told my husband I thought he should go to the family physician but he's afraid he will say the same thing. We don't know what to do at this point.

Hello Dear,
There could be a possibility of infection after the surgery. Is there any fever, chills, drainage from the site, redness, tenderness?
You should consult a surgeon. You can take antibiotics and blood-thinning medication to help prevent blood clots from forming in the veins of your thighs and calves
