I'm 17 years old and about 18 months ago I developed a pain within my wrist, the only way to describe this pain is as if the bone (which protrudes with wrist flexion on the border of where the carpal bones meet the wrist bones, I do not know the specific name of this bone) is raw and inflamed. This pain arises with extension combined with pressure on the hand itself e.g. when getting up off the floor or doing a press up, and disappears once the wrist has been immobilized for several days. This has lead me to eventually stop bending the wrist completely as I open doors and support my body weight when getting up with a fist, and have done so for about a year. At first I rested the wrist for two weeks, but upon returning to normal use of the wrist the pain will quickly reappear to the full degree within 2-3 days, I was in a constant cycle of easing my way back into wrist movement gently and then resting it for a longer period than before when the pain returned. I tried resting(the longest period being 2 months of nothing), icing, massaging, stretching but nothing has worked so I have adapted my daily routines to wrist strapped straight wrist movements, and returned to sport (rugby) about 4 months after by using a tennis elbow strap on my wrist to completely immobilize it during sport. I never injured my wrist to begin with, and the pain started randomly and now not having played sport for about 5 months the pain is still there leading me to believe there might be something (a piece of bone or growth) inside my wrist joint as no pain is there unless the wrist is bent under pressure. The doctors sent me away 3 times advising me to rest it before I was referred to an orthopaedic department and finally referred for an x-ray, this came back clear and so I was referred for an mri.I have just received the results today that this is also clear and entirely normal (except for a small mark apparently caused by a slight bump of the hand which appear on mris but do not mean anything) which has lead me to seek online help, the doctor has referred me to a hand and wrist specialist to decide the next step, arthroscopy etc but I would like any extra advise which could help me as the doctors are taking forever and I wish to pursue my sports and normal gym activities again. I feel like I can relate to the symptoms of keinbocks disease very much although doctors do not think this could be it, any help would be appreciated.
