Just wanted to say that it is nice to meet someone also born in the same area. I was born at the Hospital for women (no longer there) in Washington, DC in 1953. We lived in Silver Spring, just about a two mile walk from the District line and my Father worked in DC from the time he graduated High School in Upstate New York until he died in 1974. My parents were high school sweethearts.
I have to tell you something funny. When I read of the connection you have with the Treasury Dept. in DC, all I could think of is this: When I was about 6 years old, I asked my Dad what he did for a living. He said, "I make money."
OK...so, I was a bit enlightened about financial matters, or so I thought, and so I figured that Dad worked for the Treasury Department (I must have heard of that agency on the news or something) since I figured that this is where they "Stamped" the money....in my six year old brain, this made sense to me! So, I had my Dad working all day standing over some kind of conveyer belt (similar to the I love Lucy show where Lucy and Ethel work in a chocolate factory) making all that money....just Stamping the faces of different presidents on green paper. OK...so, I found out a few years later that he was a Tax Attorney. Ah well.
Great Party!
OH, and Laney, we might be related! My Grandmother was a Lane and arrived in New York, to go Upstate, approximately 1886 from County Cork, Ireland. You never know!
Mary

PS hi to my posse Gail Mid Shawn Kasie Mary
oops! I posted in the wrong spot earlier. Just popping in to say hello!!!
Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well. It has been ages since I have been here, but I am glad to see that someone has started a cyber party. I don't know a lot of you, but recognize some people (Hi Mary 53, Mid, Gail, and Pam). I have brought some chocolate cheesecake to share with you all.
One of my most embarrasing moments was when I was in 7th grade. I was very well endowed for a 13 year old. Well my bestfriend and I were at the mall hanging out on a Friday night and the guy that I "loved" was there. Well my good freind wanted to play a joke on me so she had the boy I liked ask me if my boobs were real or if I stuffed my bra. It was so humilliating that I just broke down and started to cry. Too bad I was not quick whitted back then or I would have told him to feel and find out and when he tried I would have slapped him. LOL
me too 4.30 am here goodnight all thanks for the great company
Me too! Good night all. I had a great time and look forward to it again. See you all real soon!
Love Chris

The way my daughter has behaved much of her life Roxi Renee may have been more fitting than sweet Catherine Lynn!!
Night Fran, hope that you sleep well. Supposed to be nice tomorrow here too!
Don't feel bad Gail, I did the same thing, so I will probably be up most of the night. One of these days I will learn.
Laney a lobster bake on the beach sounds great. Can't go to Maine without having lobster!
Marie, I have to agree with your mom. "And now for your enjoyment, Roxanne Renee"
I am named after Sainte Anne... yup, that is me Laney..... Lane is my married name. I told my husband.....geeze, I only have 4 letters in my whole name.....lol. Anne Lane... go figure
Hi Gail and good night Fran. Fran thanks for the pizza
Hey Donna (jazzy) How are you doing? Enjoying the visit with your mom I hope. Glad you stopped in.
Mary that is amazing! I too was born in the DC area. Arlington to be exact. My dad worked in the Treasury Dept for the Secret Service. I was born at DeWitt army base. I think that we are fairly close in age. The Kennedys are the first political family I remember also. My mom was originally from IL and was a WAC working in the Pentagon when she met my dad. They divorced when I was 6 and mom came back to her home town. That is how I ended up in IL. My dad is retired now and remarried. His wife was originally from Maine and that is how he ended up there.
Alright, well I'm calling it a night -- no rest for the old at heart :) Hope you all have a lovely Sunday -- weather will be nice in my area -- sunny and warm! Take care -- hugs to everyone!
When I was first pregnant I liked the name Roxanne Renee. My mom said no way!!!! She said it sounded like a roller derby girl or a stripper
