Thank you for the comments and that hug means worlds to me! tomorrow I see the gyno, and tonight I am nothing but a bundle of stress. But at the same time, I am ready to get this ball rolling.
Most ovarian cysts, even suspicious looking ones, are benign (non-cancerous). Women without a predisposition for ovarian cancer have a lifetime risk of less than 2%. Being post-menopausal is more concerning. However, this cyst could still be benign. Hopefully, that is the case for you.
The surgeon should be able to remove the cyst, send it for frozen section while you are under anesthesia, and then if it is benign, you should not need to lose any organs. Our uterus and ovaries have lifelong functions so we do not want them removed unnecessarily. Mine were removed even though my cyst was benign. Hoping you get good medical treatment.
