4 weeks post op

On November 7th I had a very large endometrioma removed along with my right ovary and tube. My doctor said that if I had children he would have removed the left as well. However, it is going on 5 weeks post op and I have not had a menstrual period since November 6th the day before my surgery. Anyone had it take a while to start their period after surgery? I am concerned because we have been trying to conceive for sometime and I am on pins and needles trying to see if it is possible that I will ever conceive.

If anyone has any info I greatly appreciate it.

I agree with you. I really need to chill out. The mass that I had removed was 21 cm and a complete shock as my ob/gyn wouldn't even discuss endometriosis with me. Needless to say I found another ob/gyn who sent me to a specialist who upon a physical exam found the mass. It has been a whirlwind for about 3 months and you are completely right when you say I just need to "let it ride". I am glad to hear that it may take a little while to get straightened out with the periods as I was beginning to think that maybe the left ovary wasn't functional. Thanks.... everyone on here is great and I wish I had found this forum prior to surgery. It would have relieved some of my anxieties.

After my endometriosis surgeries, it always took me at least two cycles before I had a period.  Also, the ovaries take turns ovulating, so, maybe it's not the left one's turn yet! (so to speak)  I'm sure when you go in for your post-op checkup, the doctor will be able to have some answers for you.  I, too, had major difficulties conceiving immediately after the surgeries and can understand your anxieties... If you've been TRYING-TRYING, maybe now's the time to just "let it ride" and enjoy the loving again???

Thank you for the information, loulou695. I am sorry to hear your cycle was more painful after your surgery. I hope the next one goes better for you. We have been trying since the 2nd week after surgery. The doctor said that it would be OK but I took a pregnancy test last Friday and it was negative (very, very frustrating). I spoke to my doctor about no period and he said that if I don't have one by the end of January we will need to look into why. I don't know that I can wait that long. I am a little concerned  that my left ovary doesn't work. I guess that I would be having some sort of symptoms if it didn't work..... I hope your next period is less painful.

I am also 4 weeks post-op (cyst & ovary removed).  I've had a period about 10 days after the operation - it was more painful than normal but I put that down to the operation.  It was about 1 week early.  I think the surgery probably makes things go a bit hay wire and it might take a while to settle down.  Could you be pregnant already, or are you like me and definitely not up to that sort of thing yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Otherwise if you don't get it soon maybe you should contact your doctor.  Take care
