A choice in chemotherapy drug

I have been given a choice between three different chemotherapy drug combinations for my next round of chemotherapy and would love any feedback from anyone who has had these drugs. I am going to discuss these choices with my local oncologists next week.  Thanks. Julie

1) Irinotecan and Carboplatin
2) Irinotecan and Cisplatin
3) Cisplatin and Etoposide

Julie, I have had the carbo, cisplatin and etoposide but noe of the combos you mentioned. I had good luck with the carbo and cisplatin, and the etoposide worked some but not too well. I was on cisplatin with avastin and did find that I had quite a bit of nausea with it. I hope that the one you choose works well for you.
Marie, I wish you luck on your next scan and that you can continue to stay off of the chemo for awhile.

Thanks.  I hope I can stay off chemo a while more.  I should know soon.  My scan is the 8th.  I know the cancer cells are in the pylorus area, but they may behave and not grow into a problem yet. Wishful thinking??  Yep.  Marie

Marie,
If your doctor puts you on irinotecan, make sure he/she also gives you atropine for diarrhea or abdominal cramping. My doctor at MD ANderson was very emphatic that if I choose irinotecan that my local oncologist also gives me atropine. She crossed out as needed and wrote in  ABSOLUTELY GET on the physicians orders. I wish you the best. Julie

I think irinotecan will be in the combo my onc is looking into for my next chemo if I decide to do it.  It is in a combo like folfox called folfiri.  It replaces the oxaliplatin.  You had such a good response before it does seem your cancer is responsive.  Mine was responsive in one lesion, but not on the tumor.  One tumor grew while the other area resolved.  Odd, huh?  I wish you the best in whatever choice you make.  Marie
