Abdominal bloating related to ovarian cancer?

Hi,
I've never been on this site before, but boy just reading other people's experiences helps, thanks!  I'm going in tomorrow to see my Dr. because I have unexplained "bloating" in my upper abdomen, esp. after eating a tiny meal.  Also, I have some lower ab. pain and back pain that come and go. I also have the symptoms of a urinary tract infection, i.e. feeling the urge to go without really needing to, a "cramping" sensation in my bladder area, which comes and goes also.  Also I've recently gone between feeling constipated to having kind of diarrea (sp?).  I am really worried that I have ovarian cancer.  I had one ovary removed when I was 20 (now I'm 40) due to a fibroid tumor.    Do any of these symptoms seem familiar to anyone with ovarian tumors?  I realize it could be other things, but I'm really scared.  Thanks to anyone who can help.

Josie,
I had similar symptoms...lots of gas and diahrea and bloating...went to acupuncturist and that helped a lot with the gas problem.  The Gyno did an ultrasound and found fluid in my abdomen area...said it was not normal to have fluid there that it could be related to OC. Maybe you should ask for one...Good luck

Hi,  I had the same symptoms as you from abdominal bloating, urinary urgency etc.  My lower back ached constantly and I had  pain radiating down my left leg right down to my ankle!   I had an 11cm cyst and my left ovary removed 6 weeks ago.   Although the CA125 blood test came back elevated at 79 the growth was benign.  Hang in there!!

The appt. on the 28th is the initial gyn appt. after my recent visit to the ER,so I haven't had a u/s yet only the CT at the ER and the ER gave me the CT report and bloodwork report to take with me to gyn also I forgot to add that my white blood count up to 17.something they said that was high considering no apparent infection, and the inside of my left thigh is swollen quite a bit left is where the cyst is,so have you ever heard of that? When I kept on metioning it at the ER they just ignored me,and I haven't really seen anyone metion this any input is appreciated, you women are so sweet here. Thanks

No, unless you are vying for the title of Town Drunk, then drinking alcohol in a normal fashion does not affect the liver badly!    Many liver diseases are transmitted just like  a cold or the  flu, so  you could have picked up something just about anywhere.  The liver helps remove toxins from the body, and abdominal swelling is usually the first symptom of liver disease.  That, and really nasty smelling stools!

Much the same for kidney function...in that the kidneys also process excess fluid out of the body, so if there is even a mild infection then you might have some swelling in the extremities.

The gall bladder basically helps the liver do its thing, and gall bladder disease can cause the upper abdominal swelling as well as feelings of fullness after small meals.

And then again, mostly all of the symptoms can be the result of ovarian masses.  Those masses, even when they are small, press against the tissues and organs in the abdomen, thus causing disfunction to some degree.

My point is that if your doctor does not find anything amiss with your ovaries, then please continue to seek medical attention until you do find what is not right, so you can return to health!

Thank you so much for your help.  If you don't mind a few other questions, I was wondering how the swelling in my fingers would relate to the kidney or urinary tract infection, or possibly liver issues?  I've looked it up on the internet but can't find anything that relates anything to swollen fingers.  By the way, they're not huge sausages, just had to size my wedding ring up 1 1/ sizes!  I drink a couple of glasses of wine with dinner most nights, could this cause liver problems?  Sounds like a dumb question but everyone I know does the same and is fine.

Well, it could be ovca.  Statistically speaking, it would be more likely to be a benign ovarian condition, assuming there is even a connection to the ovaries.  You might still more likely have a kidney or urinary tract infection, as that could cause the swelling in your fingers.  You could also have a liver condition or gallbladder disease, or any number of combinations of the above.  Hopefully your doctor will be able to  arrange testing to solve your health problems.

Sounds the same as I did!  I had 2 dermoids along with 1 ovary and 90% of the other one.  Ovarian cysts can cause all of your symptoms.  Remember 99% of ovarian cysts, masses, tumors are BENIGN.  Glad you found the site, it is really great.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed

Hi,I am also new here and I have been reading alot I have the exact symptoms that you have and about a week ago I decided to go to the ER and they did blood work then a CT and told me they found a cyst 2.6cm on my left ovary I am 31yrs old and have never had a cyst or any other ovary problems before the ER would not give me anything for the pain, just advised me to see my gyn to look into it more with a u/s and the doc can't even get me in until April 28th I know this doesn't answer any questions for you, but It is always helpful when you find someone with such similar symptoms as you, and I have been really scared lately as ovc runs on both sides of my family, thanks for listening and I hope everything turns uot ok for you..

Well, let's hope the doctor does not find anything wrong with your "ovaries" since you only have one left!  But you get the idea!
