Hey there, Ginger beer or ginger ale is the best.
Great news for you Ashley
Cheers

Oh I forgot to tell you. I had my stitches removed from where I had the skin cancer removed last week. The pathology report said we had gotten all the cancer and I go back in 6 months for a check up. That was my good news for today.

Mine isnt tasting to bad today. With the halflyte, it is lemon-lime flavored and I added a little sprite to it. These things dont work so well for me. After 3 hours I still havent visited the little girls room. But all in all things are well. We have settled into the hotel for the night. It is a 3 hour drive from home to the hospital so I think this is the best idea, I also check into the hospital at 5 am for surgery and felt this is the best idea. But anyway, I hope you are feeling better and your tummy is starting to calm down. Good luck and I cant wait to talk to you after this is all over.
Best wishes and prayers

Lots of suggestions. I'll add mine to the list. I had the ginger lemon flavored one, and mixed it with lemonade. Like the others said, it was still nasty, but I managed to keep it down. If you are feeling the least bit sick to your stomach, don't chug it. I made that mistake and it came back to visit about 10 minutes later. But if you think you can get it down, then yes, hold your nose, and chug! With all the advancements in surgery, you'd think they'd come up with a better tasting way to do this!

I tried it chilled and then later I forgot to chill the ginger ale first so I had to drink at room temp. and somehow I think it went down better.. Are you having to split it into 3 "courses 10 min. apart?" I think they have different directions .. This last time was for my colonoscopy. The problem for me with it chilled was with all that fizz, it seemed worse somehow.
Then, on top of it all, the next day before the procedure, the nurse said I could have taken it by itself, with a "chaser" of ginger ale or something (gatorade she said was better) and it wouldn't seem like so much horrible stuff.. but I don't know if that's really o.k. Next time I'm gonna ask though Good luck.. And don't forget to drink loads and loads of fluid...
Cold is better. I mixed mine with ginger ale, too, but it still is the grossest thing. Hold your nose. I had a bright idea for my 2nd dose...dilute it with more ginger ale. Wrong...that only meant I had to drink more carbonation. I thought my stomach would explode. I asked my doctor the next day in pre op why he hated me!
I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually considering doing it again b/c I'm having trouble in that department after surgery and softeners aren't cutting it.
Good luck
Thanks for your suggestion. I did hold my nose and drink fast and it was still gross!
I took it about 3 hours ago, and actually, finally, Thankfully, don't feel it coming back up on me anymore. Now it's doing what it's supposed to do, and I'm pooping like I was 2 weeks old! lol
Oh well, on with the fun!
Thanks,
Morrowvile
Hold your nose and drink fast......the stuff is gross....there are pills but it seems like the doctors never perscribe them.
Good luck today.....I think that this (the bowel cleanse) is the worst part of the surgery.

Gosh, I didn't know you had to start so soon. I'm so sorry. I thought it was just the 12 hours before that you guzzled the nasties and blew it all out. Butterfly is probably right - mix it with something lightly flavored. I'm trying to remember what someone else used - seemed to be lemon flavored. Stop by to visit when you can today. We'll try to distract you. Here's your word for the day: coprastasophobia - the fear of constipation. Guess you don't have that. :-) Take care.
A woman I work with has taken it several times and it's been nasty. This last time she was in the hospital while taking it and they gave it to her in ice water with a straw. She said it went down much easier than it has before- it could have been the carbonation with the soda's we have usually used.
I don't think anything fully masks it, but i mixed mine with ginger ale. and I used a straw to drink it (the straw helps bybass the tastebuds on the tongue). Hope it helps?
