Ashley's 5 YEAR UPDATE!!!

Hello everyone,

For those who have followed my daughter Ashley's progress as she battled stage 3 grade 3 ovarian cancer at the young age of 15 yrs. old, here's the update.  She recently had her five year check up and all is good.  Doctor said "no matter how hard I try, I just can't find anything wrong".  She has now been declared cancer free and only needs to go in to the cancer institute once per year for blood work.  Of course she is elated as we all are.  Thanks to all of you who helped me over the years cope and communicate with my then teenage daughter as she battled this beast.  Here's hoping that those who still continue to battle will post their own 5 year NED soon.

God Bless All of You,
Bob

Hi Bob, first let me congrats Ashley and your family for the very happy news! I read all your posts regarding Ashley's illness in the past because i have ovarian cancer too, the same type as Ashley (immature teratoma). However, i am grade 1 and the doctor didn't told me what stage it is. I was diagnosed last August, operated to remove 1 ovary and underwent 4 circles of BEP. Unfortunately, i have to underwent 2 operations on September and January this year due to bowel obstructions ( caused by the cancer operation in August 2011). However, i am developing some cysts in the remaining ovary. Having check up next week... Very hope that in the end, i will have the same happy ending as Ashley.

Bob - I think of  Ashley often.  Wow, 5  years.

Thanks for letting us know and reminding everyone, that odds are only numbers, people can and do beat this disease.

Best of luck, always.
