Back From Cleveland Clinic

Hello Ladies,

I have posted twice before with solid mass, wait and see.  I have a surgery date, Feb. 6, 2006, two weeks from today.  The doctor stated a 1 in 10 chance of malignancy and "these were good odds."  I stated to him, "You know, I have been struck by lightning."  "You know, I had a 1 in 3000 chance of marrying a carrier of cystic fibrosis and a 1 in 2000 chance that he would be born with meconium ileus."  My son who is now 25 accompanied me and my husband.  we all had a good laugh as my son is now 25 and beaten all odds!  I told him if I can hit those odds, a 1 in 10 chance should be really easy to hit!  I am keeping my fingers crossed.  Doc called it a complex cyst and will perform laparotmy with diagnosis and staging if needed. Then I will be off to Florida to recup before looking for another job, I don't even want to think about that prospect right now!  Will keep you posted.  Been reading all posts and praying for all!

Good luck!  I like the odds you were given too.  When i was pregnant with my son, a crude doctor(the one that oversees all labs at this office) called and told me that I had a 1 in 10 chance that my son had Trisomy 18 and would be born dead and should he live he would be the most hideous looking child that you could lay eyes on and  I would have to bury him before his first birthday.  I went on to the genetics counselor at this same office who kept pushing 1 in 10 chance and I needed to have an amnio or just abort. I walked out of the office, scared to death, but decided that I had a 90% chance he would be okay.  My son was born perfect and is smart as a tack.  Scarier still I was put in the hospital to have him because I had no amniotic fluid adn of course that was a sign to look for with this condition.  When he was born and I heard his cry and could see his face was perfect all was good.  So keep up your good attitude-your odds are great.

I vote for many miracles!  Dr. Michener also gave Dr. Goldberg his opinion and they both decided on NO surgery for me. Keep me posted.
