Becky's good news

I'm sure some of you have already read her latest update but just in case. . . .

She's gradually feeling better. Got the 8 foot (lol) NG tube removed and her tummy is feeling better. I guess her husband was there when they removed it. He was in awe as well as ready to toss his cookies when they removed it. :-)  The hospital allowed her to go to a special fund raiser for a couple hours that evening. What a wonderful outing and reprieve for her.

The part that brought tears to my eyes was the story she told about getting brochures on OvCa for the fund raiser.

"There was ony one small hiccup Amy encountered while organizing this and, believe it or not, it was with the Canadian Cancer Society themselves. When Amy went to the office to collect some brochures on women's cancer's to put in the goodie bags for the guests to take home, she found there were no pamphlets on Ovarian cancer. When she asked the women who was there if she would get her some, her response was - " just take the breast cancer ones...that's the main one anyway"."

I have plenty of friends with BrCa and I don't take it lightly. But to brush off OvCa like it's no big deal is insulting and painful to see. So much work to be done.
