New chemo, Disease progressed alot on last one

Anyone ever use Xeloda pills?  It is for colon cancer, but has been used in ovarian too.  More for mucinous type.  My cancer got pretty active on last treatment.

I wonder why since the regular 5fu didn't work did she choose this??  I have no side effects so far, so at least I don't have to suffer as much when we try it.  Thanks.

Sorry to hear that the previous treatment was not working for you.

I don't really have any experience with Xeloda (Capecitabine) but just did a bit of reading on it and it seems to have quite good response rates so I hope it is successful for you. The drug should act on the tumor in the same way that 5-FU does as it is basically converted into 5-FU inside the tumor. This should mean fewer GI side effects and less bone marrow supression as you don't have 5-FU in the rest of your body...

Good luck with it.
