Borderline ovarian tumor recurrence???

Back in 2008 I had a serous borderline tumor.  I had a complete hysterectomy including both ovaries and omentum.  I went to the ER for abdominal pain and they did a CT of my abdomen.  With that, they found a 9mm lesion that they believe is a cyst in both kidneys and a 2mm lesion believed to be a cyst in my liver.  My gynecologist was not concerned about the liver at all and ordered an ultrasound of the kidney but really believed those are cysts too.  The ultrasound said they were too small to tell 100% but thinks they are cysts too.  My question is could these be the start of more borderline tumors?  Do borderline tumors start as cysts and progress and can they show up in the kidneys and liver?  I just keep wondering if this is the start of something but it is just way too early to tell.  The urologist that I followed up with for the ultrasound of the kidney just wants to repeat the ultrasound in a year to see if there are any changes but doesn't seem worried at all. I hate being scared of this borderline stuff...It's been 6 years and I don't think I will ever get over it!!!! :(

The truth is they can't tell on a CT Scan until things get big. I have had a cyst on my kidney for years and it has never developed into anything. I know its hard to watch and wait. You have to find a way to go on an live life with out waiting for the other shoe to drop. Until it is well developed the doctors won't do anything but watch and wait. Listen to your doctor. If you want a second opinion do not be afraid to get one.

I recently had a hysterectomy and omentectomy and they diagnosed me Serous Borderline Ovarian. I hope everything is going ok with you. I find it very difficult to have borderline with no treatment beside surgery. I too wonder if it will come back and when. I would really like to be able to communicate with you considering you had the same exact cancer as me. Please contact me if you can.

Everything is based on your history and past CT Scans and CA 125. They find a lot of incidental stuff with CT Scans.  If every healthy person had a scan they would find cysts. It just depends. With me half the time they find things that are benign and half the time Cancer. They just put me in treatment when they find Cancer. With many women Ovarian is a chronic disease one they teat their whole lives. Other women have no issues after the initial surgery and chemo.  No one can say which woman you will be. I chose to live a happy life regardless. I have no control over whether I have Cancer I do have control about worrying about it or not.
