CA 125 levels midly rising with dermoit cyst.

I am 30 years old, and have a 4cm cyst on my right ovary, and i have mild endometriosis. I get pain on my left lower side which has always been a mystery to my doctor. I had a laparoscopy in 2004 which spotted these two conditions, after a problem flagged up on the scan when i was pregnant with my son in 2003.
My husband and i have been trying to conceive our second since 2005 with no success. We were refered to a clinic and I was about to begin infertility treatment in sep 2009 after being diagnosed with secondary infertility, but my consultant stopped the treatment as he was concerned about the cyst. I was sent to  another hospital for a scan and blood tests.
The scan confirmed a dermoit cyst and the CA 125 blood tests came back at 52U/ml. I was given another blood test as the doctor said the level could be due to endometriosis but he could not rule out cancer. My husband and i were shocked. I got the results on the 29th of Dec 09, they have gone up mildly to 61.5U/ml. I am due to return to see the doctor within the next few weeks to discuss things further with him  then. I am trying not to think the worst, but i am concerned. I have no family history of this, which i know is a plus, but i have never been on the pill due to an allergy, which i know is a negative. Is there anyone else out there with similar symptoms or similar CA 125 levels, who can through some light on this situation?

I would highly recommend to have an GYN/oncologist to do the operation, at least have one standby. It is very important to ask your GYN this question.  Please please ask one to stand by!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply. I am on the waiting list for the operation to remove my right ovary with the cyst, but i am sure it is my gyno that is doing it not an oncologist.
Staying positive, will report back once i have spoken to the doctor/gyno next week.
This site has been very informative, thank you,

susan.

Just want you to know the final dx of OVCA is from biopsy for most OVCA patients. So try not jump into conclusion before hard evidence. But at the same time I hope you are seeing a Gyn/oncologist.  It doesn't mean you have OVCA, but they have more experience to tell the difference between a benign and malignant mass. following up ca125 test, the trend of ca125 is much much more meaningful than just a point.
Try to occupy your time by doing your favorite activities, we all have been there before.

Best wishes
