Can you tell me more about this? My mom had the bloodwork done on Wednesday. No word yet, but I'm reading people talking abou the numbers etc.  I do know its called a "tumor marker"

Any info would be much appreciated.

Hi, I saw your earliet post after I answered this one. Try not to worry too much right now. Some of the large medical websites have info, like Mayp Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Maybe where your mom is having surgery has a website. I go to West Clinic in Memphis, 110 miles away, They have a website too. Best wishes.   Donna

thanks for your reply. she had the CT scan done and it showed masses on her liver and ovaries. blood work was right after we spoke to the oncologist. surgery for tumor/Hysterectomy is on the 18th. just curious about the numbers.... so its per individual... thats good to know.

Has your mom had surgery or is the diagnosis from a scan? The ca125 is useful once a diagnosis is made. Some ladies have really high numbers,over 1,000. This doesn't mean they have more cancer, its their body reaction so to say. My cancer was stage 3c (Stage 1 being lowest).My ca125 was only 175 on that original diagnosis. My recurrence it was up to 269, but no visible cancer during surgery or on petct. They will use her individual readings to track her progress. Normal is 0-35. Some ladies have tumors with a normal ca125. It has to be used in conjunction with ct scans and ultrasound to determine whats is going on. Let us know how she is doing.  Donna
