Sometimes when new people go searching for a subject they often come up with a post like this one which is 3 1/2 yrs old. Sometimes it is helpful to look at the original date, which is beside the posters name. Also, none of these people have written anything on MH for over 3 (you can see that when you click on their name, it will show you the last time they wrote or answered a post), yrs so it is unlikely that they will see your comments. Just thought you should know. It happens a lot.
did you ever consider that your body was made to ovulate and that suppressing your ovaries could cause them to create a cyst? Women were made to have their period!
I was given depo-provera from my doctor and my period stopped. I was never told this would happen. Then ovarian cysts began to grow on both of my ovaries so I stopped taking the shot. A short while later I became pregnant and had a very risky pregnancy because of these cysts. They grew to 10cm on one side and 8 cm on the other. It was a very painful pregnancy and the baby tried to come twice 2 months before it was time. 8 months after I had the baby the cysts were finally gone and have not returned.
I believe the cysts were brought on by the depo-provera shot even though my docor said it was safe. A woman knows her own body. I research everything my doctor suggests BEFORE I accept it into my body now. Once they put it in you there is no way to take it out until its effects ware off - which can take years.
Why do all the Doctors want you to wait and do another US in 3 months? did it say that they sometimes go away?
I was just on a med. website that talked about how cysts are developed etc. I would repeat it all but it was very lengthy. But it did say that women on birthcontrol normally do not get cysts, or should not, although it can happen, and those that do are highly suspect. It went on to say when the recommended time was for removing cysts. It said, with women who are on birthcontrol, women in pain, premenarchal and postmenopausal women, and women with solid or complex cysts should have them surgically removed. It said this is the only way to know if it is cancer or not, or if it is something else. But the only way to know for sure is to have it removed.
If you can get cysts postmenopausal the you can get cysts without a period. They're considered slightly more suspect in women who do not get periods. I haven't had a period in 2 years and have 2 ovarian cysts right now.
I am in the same boat, I don't get my period either, because of birthcontrol pills. My doctor said she was surprised that I even developed a cyst because it shouldn't have happened while on birthcontrol pills. So my guess is that developing a cyst has to do with ovulation, but I'm not sure how exactly. I hope someone will be able to answer this question.
