COMPLEX OVARIAN CYSTS?

Went to Family dr. Wednesday to find out why I have been bleeding and spotting with cramping for over 2 months and she took blood work and said - get a gyno.  Pain and dizziness got so bad I took myself to hospital today and after some ultrasound was told I have a complex cyst 4cm and to go home and get a gyno - NOW!  Heard cysts are not a big deal but mom and grandmother both had hysterectomies before 40 and I hit 39 last week.  How dangerous is this?? do I need to worry about cancer?

Hi there - thanks again for providing me with such important info and also your experiences too.  I know EXACTLY you emotions, just like a rollercoaster, mine are too.,  I would not be hones if I said I was not scared. Of course I am......Conratulations on your baby boy - how wonderful is that!!!     A living miracle of love.    Im just in such a darn quagmire.....one gyn says lets take it all, other women who are in our shoes, have just had the ovary taken and preserve the uterus and other ovary.  IM TOTALLY MIXED UP ON THIS.   20 yrs ago had pre cancerous cells on the cervix, they cut them out and in hindsight I had a choice then of a hysterectomy but took the chicken way out.....now its the blinking ovary with a rude intruder.   I HAVE to think its benign........and get it the heck out of where it does not belong.
It really is a no brainer.    And I AM not waiting till Jan for a second peep.  SO being an empowered baby boomer, that I am, Im taking charge of my life and health as usual.....any suggestions?  I dont like the complex cyst word - but who does....always was a worrier my entire life, always think the worst, always have.  My mom is still alive at 78 with one ovary, no history AT ALL for cancer, anywhere....smokin gher brains out with emphaseyma and she has defined medicine.  Drs. just shake their heads..........guess I didnt inherit her consttitution.....it sort of is a funny weird thing in a way isnt it???   Talk to you soon hopefully

Hi dear one
THANK SO MUCH FOR your note........Peae of mind about our precentages I guess is up there at least for me.....funnu how you got hte one in March got it out (benign THANK GOD and I also like the lets get it out of there now!) as that is what my "gut" play on words is telling me to do.  I feel they (complex) vs. simple just dont go away dont you agree???
I may be wrong .....this gyn wants to take my other ovary which is shrinking to nothing to avoid what you are going through now she said, plus my uterus which is fine...........
what was the recovery like, do you bleed vaginally after having your ovary removed?  Is it hugely dangerous.......so much I need to know if you dont mind.
Hugs for reassurance, and I know we are human beings, and when these things come into our lives, our mind immed thinks the worst.
But look, your last ones were fine!!!!   That alone encourages me, and also s owill the ones you have in there now.
Where do you live and did you have gn take it out, an dhow long did u have to wait until you got your results?
Hugs, Kathy       I forgot, how big were yours?

Hi,  I had a complex cyst found in March.  I had 2 on my ovary.  My doctor at the time did not want to do the wait and see with those and just said "those have to go"  I went back 2 weeks after that for pre op and by that time one of the cysts had burst, just leaving the one.  He still felt we needed to go in and check things out because I was in a lot of pain.  The ovary was attached to my uterus and my tube was full of blood.   He had to remove ovary and tube.   However, the cyst was benign.  It was a hemorrahic cyst.  Now I have 3 complex cysts on my remaining ovary and I know my doctor wants them out of there as well.  I go in on Monday to discuss this with him.  I know they are probably benign, but I worry so much about it.  My mother died of ovarian cancer so I worry so much about all this stuff.   I know it's scary for you as well, but what I keep telling myself that I should remain calm until I have a reason to fear.  Most likely the cysts are benign.

Hi Kathy,

When I was 40 years old I gave birth to the most precious baby boy in the world.  He is now 2 1/2 and full of energy and keeps me on my toes.  However, for some reason, after he was born things "down stairs" really started acting up.  I've have many cysts and worry about every single one of them.  As I mentioned, my mother passed away 5 years ago from ovarian cancer.  She always refused to go to the doctor and get her check ups.  She finally went when her lungs started filling with fluid.  By that time, the cancer had spread to other parts of her body.  It was so sad.  She didn't live long after her diagnois.  She died right after surgery to try to remove the cancer.

My cysts have been smaller than many I have read here, but seem to cause a lot of pain for me.  The cyst that was removed was around 4 cm and the 3 I have now are all 2 -3 cms...not all that large, but they are just so darn painful.  I'm so sick of this!  The first time I had an u/s and saw the cysts I started cyring like a baby.  I was so scared.  My doctor assured me it was most likely not cancerous, but did have me take the ca-125 and I also had a uterine biopsy.  I was so scared during that time, but now that I'm an old pro at all this cyst stuff I'm not as nervous with these cysts, but then worry that I should be more nervous.  It's crazy.  I just don't want to get myself all worked up this time.  It was really hard on my family and on me.  I lost so much sleep.

I did bleed after my surgery.  It was heavy for a couple of days and then was just light, I can not remember exactly how many days I bled.  I had laproscopic surgery and only stayed one night in the hospital.  I could have gone home that night if I had wanted, but I chose to stay.  If I have this other ovary removed, I will also have the uterus removed.   It will also have it done laproscopic and again I could go home that day or stay one night.

hi there - i too found out about 10 days ago i have a complex ovarian cyst, 7.2 cms, no symptoms - its was acidentally  then they did a vag. ultrasound.  I am 52, last menstrual cycle was June, other words premenopausal.   Aaw gn. yes (got 2 opinions)
She thinks it is NOT cancer, and is **** a repat ultra sound in 6 weeks to see if it is shrinking, growing, or staying the same.
If it is the same because of my age, (nomore babies) she wants to take both ovaries and uterus out.........So, I am told by so many wonderful ladies here alot of the time they are BENIGN, in fact the numbers are high it is.   I know it is scary in the beginning............anybody feel free to answer any maybe correct me if I have something wrong.  I am going back to Canada to get another opinion and u/s from my own dr there, but probably will be on a wait list.  Here in Hawaii, I can have it done in a matter of days. SO itall depends on your age, exactly what did your ultrasouns say or have you had it done yet?

DONT PANIC>>>>>>>>
I did and I amsettling down now, thanks to these incredile ladies on here........Write back if you need more help.
Best wishes,
Kathy
