Ca 125

Hi all.

I am an 8 year breast cancer survivor, and a 3 year ovarian cancer survivor.

Everythings been good up till now. Back into all my interests and feeling really great.

My ca 125 has been steadily rising over the past 18 months. I always scored hgh, so the oncologist has been monitoring me.

But, now it's jumped 100 points to 320, ad I am scheduled for a ct pet scan.

I have had three cat scans in the past year and a half and all have been negative. Plus, my physicals with my gyn/onc.surgeon was perfect.

Has anyone else had rising ca 125 scores and then had a ct pet and it turned out negative?

We have had a lot of family problems, involving a married child and I have been under stress, since January, and this is not helping.

I would appreciate any input, and/or advice.

I just feel so good, this doesn't make sense.

Thanks,

Kathy

In september another pet ct scan revealed more uptake and a small nodule.

I started taking shaklee vivix one month before chemo.

prior to starting chemo, after the pet-ct, my ca 125 had dropped 64 points from 360 to 296.

One round of carboplatin was administered.

I have been taking Shaklee Vivix, the new cell repair supplement from Shaklee, for two and a half months now.

The second round of carbo platin caused a severe allergic reaction. I did not have the chemo. One month later I was ca 125 tested again.

My ca 125 numbers, now have dropped to 125.

The next ca 125 test is in another week and a half.

If the numbers drop all the way down to normal, I will not need any more chemo.

Exploratory surgery was suggested in the future.

However, the plan is, if the ca 125 numbers keep falling all the way back to normal, and another pet scan shows the lymph node has returned to normal, then that won't be necessary, according to my oncologist.

I would suggest the book, Remarkable Recoveries, as well.

I have. It took exploratory surgery to find the cancer.

Thanks so much.

It's the "BELIEVING" part that does the healing. All the books on the subconscious mind say this. What our Core beliefs are, whether we believe we will heal and live, or not, is what we bring about.

We truely heal "From the Inside Out".

The smart thing is to use everything in medicine that your doctor tells you to do. Then, it's your job to radiate love to others from the Core of God which is within you.

I recommend reading Recreating Eden by Julia Rogers Hamrick. Also, The power of the subconscious mind by Joseph Murphy.

Hi all,

This evening thanks to some very compassionate nurses who called the lab, my new July 08 ca 125 results are in.

The great news is my ca 125 numbers have dropped 60 points! This is pretty miraculous because my fuv uptake numbers on the microscopic mass was a 6 which is a pretty high uptake for such a minute area.

Now, according to my oncologist it looks pretty favorable for it to be a lymph node, "doing it's job" instead of the dreaded possible recurrence. More like an inflammation that is healing.

Even Harvard University validates the efficacy of prayer and that kind of energy was coming for me from all kinds of faiths of friends.

Plus, each night I repeat for my subconscious minds benefit that "Every cell in my body is physically healthy and functioning perfectly".

Plus, and this is amazing, I have been taking reiki healing sessions and the last weeks session was great. The next morning I had a severe backache which woke me up. Ofcourse, I immediately thought it was symptoms. I went back for another session and the back pain left. I knew something healing had happened.

As I have always said, "If you want to heal, use every available spiritual modality available". It's ALL God!!

The Kingdom of Heaven is within!

Hi Everyone,

Finally after a day of angst for my husband and I, waiting for the phone call about the results from my pet scan yesterday, the doctor phoned this evening.

He said there is a lymph node showing activity behind my abdomen, but the spot is so small they cannot be sure what it is. he said it might be just an inflamation, and that perhaps the lymph node is just doing it's job. There is also activity in one of the arteries or veins ( I started to fog up at that point, I was just really glad he wasn't say the C word!) but again, it'll be a wait and see thing.

So................................3 months from now I'll have another pet scan and ca 125 and then if they are still rising and the spot is growing, we'll go to chemo.

All I can say is thank God we have this kind of technology! They are really on top of this.

Thank you all, for your input.

I'll sleep tonight.

Suzy, Be encouraged that you are going into a clinical trial. It's hard to get into sometimes, so that is great that it is readily available. Sending prayers your way, Suzy.

It was a rough day yesterday for both my husband and me. Neither one of us wants me to go through, possibly having chemo again. The last three years has been a welcome break.

Plus, I am claustrophobic and the thought of going into a ct/pet scan tube is mind blowing. It's a phobia, but there it is.

I prayed a lot yesterday and asked for courage. I feel that I am being tested to my breaking point, and I asked God to step in and take over.

Soon I will know if the numbers are up because of stress, or an actual cancer problem.

I did discuss my situation with my son with family members and we have decided for my health's sake, for me to go to court to establish visitation with my grandchildren, whom I am presently being denied access to.

Once the stress of missing them so much is alleviated, I will start the healing process.

I'm using the suggestions in John Kehoes book on mind power/healing. You envision God's life force and energy enabling your own immune system to shrink any cancer down to pulverization, and imagine eliminating it every time you go to the bathroom. A man healed himself that way.

I was diagnosed in 2005 and had surgery then along with 6 months of chemo.  After 3 months the tumor was growing again so they radiated me.  I have had radiation 3 times and chemo twice.  Now they want to try me on a clinical trial.  I live in Canada and they seem to have these clinical trials a lot.  It's another type of chemo but pill form.  My husband and I are going to go on a road trip for a week and then I will come back and  start this with as much strength and positive thoughts I can get.  Since being diagnosed though my CA 125 has not been high.  I know what you mean about this cancer though, it was just a fluke that they found it in 2005.
My prayers to you

Thanks, Susie.

No, my cancers were not estrogen dependent and I have had no meds since chemo.

I will talk to him, after a hopefully negative ct-pet scan ( hey, I'm thinking healthy) and he may put me on herceptin to lower those numbers.

Chest and pelvic inflamation also causes ca 125 numbers to rise.

Yes, we are all very fortunate that we live in the age we live in!

Hi Kathy,

I'm Kathy, too.  And an ovarian cancer plus breast cancer survivor.

It's normal for you to be nervous about rising numbers.  And, it's great you'll be having a scan soon.  You know what?  I'm always thankful that, as a cancer survivor, my concerns are taken so seriously, immediately.  It may be nothing at all.

On the other hand, if there is some concern, then thank God we have all these tests available to us.  I can't believe how lucky we are to have such incredible technology which could find something itty bitty.

Were your cancers estrogen dependent?  All of mine were; I decided to start taking an aromatase inhibitor. I'm on Aromasin, which basically depletes the body of estrogen.  Since my body seems to be a superior cancer-maker, I want to do anything I can to starve any critters that might be thinking about making more cancers inside me.  You might ask your doctor about being on a med like this.  At least it makes me feel as if I'm doing something.

Best of luck to you, sweetie.  Please keep us informed.

Suzy,

This is why I didn't panic when they rose, even though the numbers are growing. Sometimes, I'd read ovarian boards elsewhere and all these young women are so upset that their numbers went up two points, even though they were still in the normal range! Two points and still in normal range? That's a piece of cake to me, whose numbers are way up.

The only thing I think might be happening, and I am only pondering it, is that a new cancer may be starting. Because on both breast and ovarian , I felt great before both surgeries. If I hadn't found the breast lump, or the staining ( I was lucky on the ovarian), I would never have known I was sick.

Plus, on recurrences, 98% of patients walk themselves into the doctor's office because of a pain that will not stop.

So, while I am hoping that it's just a fluke, and also knowing how unreliable a test the ca 125 is, such as in your case, Suzy, where the numbers can be normal under those circumstances, I am still glad I am having the ct pet, so we can be sure.

Are you having surgery? I am sending all kinds of good prayers and wishes to you for a complete recovery.

Kathy

Kat, I felt so bad for you when I read your posts.

I remember laying in bed 8 years ago, after I was diagnosed with breast cancer, thinking I was going to die soon, and tears slipping down the sides of my face.

Now, here I am , eight years later, feeling great. Only God knows the hour of our death.

When I told my friend, three years ago, that now, after surviving breast cancer, I had ovarian cancer, she said one thing, "Mind Power".

It took years to train my mind, but now, whenever I hear or think a negative doomsday thought, I turn it around. I do what Wayne Dyer says, whenever someone says something negative, I say to myself, "That doesn't apply to me".

The "Power of the Subconscious Mind' by Joseph Murphy is one of the best books ever on how to make your mind your best ally for recovery. Also, "Mind Power for the 21st century" by John Kehoe:

http://www.learnmindpower.com/

I recommend you read them. I will pray for healing for you.

Re: The family, I recall the phrase, "Little kids, little problems; big kids, big problems".

I really have to learn to let go, and let them solve their own problems.

My name is Kathy also, hence the Kat.  Someone called me that back many years. Anyway, I do feel so encouraged by your post tonite.  I am very calm now, because I'm home,  having swelling in legs and it is making hard to sleep.  Is it from surgery or cancer?  Mine was bad, did they send me home to die?  What does dying feel like?  At least the surroundings are better than hspt. Did get to see my daugghters and a couple really good friends.  One brought me healing rocks, a sandstone  and a spectacular quartz crystal...
I need strength.  I told the universe if I can make it thru tonite I can last another one and another one....
Peace.

I'm the opposite.  My CA 125 is always normal but my CAT scan shows my tumor growing.      I think the doctors go more by the CAT scan than the CA 125.
I know with me any stress really affects me, but we would all have to live in a bubble not to have some stress.
If you are  feeling good go with it and all the best to you

Thanks so much for the advice.

My daughter had the Bracca test done, on her doctor's advice , because of me, and she is negative.

I feel a lot better after reading your post.

kathy  perhaps you are not a good candidate for CA125 maker.  For some the number doesn't mean anything.  Just get it checked out and remember because you are so far out you will do good if any thing is wrong.  also have been check to see if you are a Braca 1   I am and I know studies show we do better than the general population.  Hang in there and good luck
