Next Wednesday evening, Sept 30th, Chicago is turning the town 'teal.' I have chemotherapy on Monday so I'm not sure if I'll be up to going downtown to Millennium Park, but I hope those of you that are in Chicago and surrounding areas can make it. Here is the info as copied from the NOCC Illinois Chapter:
"Please Help Us Enlighten Fellow Chicagoans About Ovarian Cancer - September 30 in Millennium Park
YOU'RE INVITED!
Please join us in Millennium Park on September 30 as we tell the media and Chicagoans about NOCC and BOMA/Chicago's inaugural "Turn the Town Teal" campaign and showcase the downtown Chicago buildings that will be beaming TEAL lights to spotlight National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
This is a 30-60 minute gathering to raise awareness among members of the media and fellow Chicagoans - NOCC members are particularly encouraged to help us "represent" by wearing NOCC T-shirts or other teal clothing, where possible! Let's kick this off in style!
Our goals are to spread the word about ovarian cancer and build support and momentum among Chicagoans for a spectacular 2010 "Turn the Town TEAL" lighting campaign.
WHY ARE WE SHINING TEAL LIGHTS?
· For those who have been taken from us by ovarian cancer, these lights are a tribute.
· For those who have survived this disease, these lights are a symbol of strength.
· And for all women - and the men who love them - these lights are a message to be aware of the very subtle symptoms of ovarian cancer and the importance of awareness and early detection.
