91 year old mother

What can my 91 year old mother expect?  She had surgery and the current diagnosis is 3 c, with no testing above the diaphragm, yet.  The current focus is on recovery from surgery, but how long might a woman this age live, with or without treatment?  (She had six kids, the first at 22 and the last at 46!)  Thank you.

I'm so sorry she has to endure this at that age.

If there are no signs of dementia, follow her lead.  She will know what she's willing to endure.  Be sure she knows her options, but let her control the decision-making.  Your role is to be supportive.

Good luck.

No one knows how long with or without treatment.  No one knows how successful the surgery might have been in removing all the cancer, etc.  As you said, let her recover from surgery first and take it from there.  At 91, I would worry more about quality of life vs quanity.
Spend time with her, love her....enjoy every minute you have together.
Good luck to you and your family,
Pam
