PLATINUM RESISTANT

Hi dears,

my name is Francesca i am Italian. I am writing because of my mom that is only 58 and my reason to live.
She was operated in february, sierous adenocarcinoma G2, stady 1c. We were supposed to be lucky because of stady 1 but unfortunatly the capsule broke and the liquid spread during surgery. Sha started chemio carboplatin, doctors says for prevention, but we were unlucky again. She turned out to be platinum resistant, so tumor came back during chemio, she just had 4. She had PET scan and tumor was all around, polmon, liver, intestin, suspect od peritoneal carcinosys, and a big one 12 cm on her muscle. They took a piece of that last one to check and now is G3. Her CA125 was 133 before starting second line treatment with Caelyx/Doxyl. They said she had very few changes to success. After second treatment her CA125 went down to 54. She was feeling pretty good, going out again after 3 months. But after 3rd shot she is not as good any more. She will have 4th shot next friday and in that day they will tell us CA125 results.  She will have pet scan on 26th of october. Now she is tired, she feels pain...could it be possible that chemio worked just for two shots and is not working any more? What could we do? Do you think that another chemio would be better for her?
Please help me I am so scared...
Thanks
Francesca

I am so sorry your mom and you are going through such a terrible ordeal.
I don't think anyone can suggest a different chemo for your mom other than her team of medical professionals.  With her permission you can sit and discuss this with them and maybe allay some of your fears.  I would be scared just as you are. The more information you have the better you can understand what is going on; perhaps then you and she will figure out what to do next.  Knowledge is power and this is one of those situations where knowledge is definitely a plus.
Please give your mom my best wishes.
We are here for you and your mom any time and for any reason.
Peace.
