Can complex ovarian cysts disappear on their own?

[Just concerned]

I am a former user of Clomid so have always been concerned about the possibility of getting ovarian cancer.  I have a complex ovarian cyst on one ovary which was detected through a routine pelvic ultrasound which I have done yearly.  The cyst was not there last year but is now there.  I don't have any symptoms such as pain, bloating, etc. so am just wondering if something like this will go away on it's own?  I have another ultrasound booked for next week.  Was three months since the last one.  Was told it would have to be possibly removed if it has grown larger.  Will leave alone if it is the same size from what I understand.  Has anyone had these things disappear?  Thanks!!

ok so your cyst which was originally complex is a functional cyst now or all liquid ?  Has it gotten larger?  I think free fluid in cul de sac means that some of the fluid from cyst leaked out into abdominal area but not sure.  I don't think in and of itself it is a bad thing.  Are you having surgery for any of this ????

I had my follow-up ultrasound.  Was found to still have the uterine fibroid.  Also told that I have an ovarian cyst with some free fluid in the cul-de-sac.  Not sure what all this means.  Sounds like the cyst could be a functional cyst so am hoping that is what it is.  Just concerned about the fluid however.  Does anyone know what this means?

I have what Doc thought was a cervical polyp but he actually said he thought now it is a large uterine fibroid that has come down thru the cervix into vagina.  It can bleed bad after sex.  So fiboids or polyps can definitely bleed.  Let us know what they found.  Dana

I was also told that I have cervical polyps so perhaps that is a cause of the irregular bleeding.  Just have too many things going on so will be nice to have the ultrasound done.

Im glad about your second ultrasound next week.  Hopefully that will show its shrinking. Were cervical polyps ruled out for your irregular bleeding?  Good Luck and keep us posted !

I also think I should get in sooner but my family dr. sent all the info to the gynecologist and he seems to think there is not a problem for me to wait that long for an apt.  I can only hope that he is right.  I will have my second ultrasound next week so based on that, I may be getting in sooner.  I can only hope that things have changed for the better!  My cyst is 2 cm so they will do the u/s to see if it has changed in size.  I am 46 years old.  I also have had irregular bleeding for well over a year now but was told it was a normal part of perimenopause!  That being said, my hormone tests I had done last year were an indication that I was not in perimenopause.  I guess I am now as the blood tests have changed to indicate that so I really don't know what caused the irregular bleeding all along.  Perhaps it was the fibroid??  Guess the ultrasound will be a good indicator of what is going on.

What did your doctor say about your ovarian cyst? What size is it and was it causing you problems? I also have a uterine fibroid but was told it was nothing to worry about. Along with all of this, I also have endometrial thickening which was another concern in itself I guess. I will be seeing a specialist but cannot get in to see him until end of November so am concerned about the long wait. Therefore, was just wondering if these things ever do disappear on their own. Good luck with your surgery!

Thank you.  He said its about 3 cm and it has a thin wall in it and some liquid and solid components which could be old blood.  Im going to be 43 so i didn't want to hang out and hope it would go away on its own and since my fibroid is so big and it has to go then he will take out cyst too and check out my insides thru laparoscopy.  The only reason why i went to my doc was because of irregular bleeding in July.  I believe that was from this fibroid which is coming thru my cervix and it can bleed bad after sex.  So she ordered ultrasounds and there they found my cyst.  I have no pain or bloating or cramps or anything. There is no way to tell if Ive had it for a year or 6 months or anything. But even so i want it out now.  The end of Nov is a long wait for you.  I would ask to get in sooner because you are very concerned about your complex cyst based on everything you have read and you must get in sooner.  Ask to be called right away in the event there is a cancellation. Id say waiting  6 weeks is reasonable but NOT waiting 16 weeks !  Let us know what happens.

HI there

Id like to know the same thing too.  Ive got one on my left ovary now.  I have to have a prolapsed uterine fibroid removed the end of the month so the Doc and I decided he'd go in and remove the cyst as well.  It's not doing me any good  , so its outta there !
